Box.net - online storage provider in review
Just recently I discovered Box.net by accident and decided to sign up for their service. Their website have very clean and straight forward design. Right on the home page thay had this link to sign up for 1GB of online storage for free. The sign up was so easy. You just type in you email and desired password and you are ready to go.
Features include
Save backup copies of important files
Always have a backup plan to prevent data loss in case of computer failure
Move documents between your computers
Use your Box to transfer files so that you can work on them in any location
Setup sub-accounts for multiple user access
A perfect solution for small businesses and workgroups requiring collaboration
Store photos and other important memories
Relax! Your priceless files and photos are always safe
Share files or create online photo galleries
Hassle-free sharing; show off your vacation photos or send a file to a friend!
Developers API
Box.net makes it easy for you to utilize their storage for your application
Some free account limitations
- You can not upload files that are bigger then 10MB
- No public sharing
- No Blog support
- No sub account
Still, if you just need an easy access to your work, school or other private files Box.net free account is way to go. However, for only $4.99/month you get 5GB and all of the features above and more.
Conclusion
Box.net has really great free service that I highly recommend. If you are using some other storage, try Box.net and you'll be surprised how easy and simple it is. The only flaw I saw was their incompatibility with IE on a Mac. Other then that the service is worth having.
